Fantasy Uniform Makeovers

I personally love Brent Becker’s designs and ideas for corps and bands, even if they never see a stadium light…

A friend of mine shot me a link to deviantart where Becker hosts his self titled “Salon de Refuses”.

Becker works for Stanbury Uniforms, where most of his ideas tend to get the budget fire hose (still wonderful work) but it’s nice to see he can still go wild on his own time.

Scoot on over to his gallery and see this amazing artists gift to the marching arts.

FYI that’s not an actual Regiment uniform, just a rejected idea from his gallery.

Crown has a new website

Carolina Crown has just released a major overhaul to their corps website and I have to say it is REALLY nice!

Dubbed “CrownWEB 4.0″ the website has an improved look, links to their store and marchinghead.com and many new additions.

Head on over and take a look! - CrownWeb 4.0

New Madison Uniform?

Rumor has it that Madison Scouts will be adopting a new uniform again this year. I have seen numerous notes around describing the uniform and it almost exactly fits the description of this shot from Stanbury Uniforms.

I personally like this one very much, it reaches back to their roots as Boy Scouts, and should look really nice on the field.

UPDATE: Madison has posted a gallery of Photos following their ‘Madisonic’ show, to show off their new diggs…

The Season is upon us!

Well folks, it’s a mere 5 days until the official first show of the season! Lined up opening day, in World Class:

This should be a fun year, we have several newcomers (Incognito and Legends) as well as old favorites.

Check in on Monday the 22nd to see how your favorite corps performed. Also, if you’re looking to get the inside track on your favorite corps, check out DCI.org as well as your corps website to sign up for their Fan Network!

Cascades to limit 2008 tour schedule

via DCI.org:

The Seattle Cascades will remain in the Northwest for the 2008 season, choosing not to embark on the broader national Drum Corps International Summer Tour as a member of the World Class. The corps has decided instead to field an exhibition unit, providing a regionally-focused drum corps experience for returning and new members rather than withdrawing from the entire season.

Staff is using this season to get back on their feet and hope to be back to full strength for 2009 World Class competition.

Good luck guys!

Updated Chart Icons!

I have been using the current set of corps icons for close to 4 years now, adding more as needed to the collection. With the help of a friend from DeviantArt.com by the ‘name’ of ToffeeNut, we have new and improved graphics for the chart icons.

They’re the same overall size of our old set but lack the inset look and bevel making them appear larger.

Here is a side by side look so you can see the difference.

Both World and Open class corp icons will receive this mini makeover within the coming week.

Fantasy Corps

Due to many factors we’re not holding fantasy corps competitions at dciscores.com any longer but I do wish to refer my visitors and readers to www.drumcorpsfantasy.com to sign up and compete in DCP-I X.

I am running a Division 1 Corps named Liberty this season and encourage all who ran last year in our FDC season and those who would like to run in one to head on over there and sign up. You have to register on the DCP-I website listed above and in the forums and activate your account, then you can register for the current season.

I am running a small uniform design company over in the DCP-I forums and I am extending a priority uniform design for your Fantasy Corps (meaning yours get priority over DCP-I request) to anyone who emails me for a uniform design with the “code” SUTA in their subject line.

I will not be duplicating actual DCI uniforms so please email me with as much detail as possible (colors, shapes, head gear etc.) as possible.

I’ve already done mine and one other forum members uniforms so bring em on!

DCIScores.com update

Due to time constraints on my part and a dead forum I will be closing out the message board section of this site and focusing on simply making the best of the charts everyone enjoys season after season.

I will be maintaining a blog here on the front page of dciscores.com and am looking for individuals who love writing and love drum corps even more, to help keep updates as regular as possible.

If you would like to contribute, drop me an email - dciemail.png

Thank you for your continued support and good luck to all those marching this summer!

Bugles Across America - A worthy cause!

I love the entrepreneurial spirit of Americans… and for that I have to salute Tom Day, founder of Bugles Across America.

Back in 2000 the US Congress passed legislation that stated Veterans had a right to at least 2 uniformed military personnel to fold their flag, and Taps played on a CD player at their funeral. to Tom and many like you and me, this was a disgraceful slap in the face to anyone who had put their life on the line in service to their country. It doesn’t matter if you died of natural causes or fell on the front lines, you put yourself out there at one time in your life in service for your country and are entitled to a respectful and honored burial.

Enter Bugles Across America, NFP. Through this organization those of us who wish to volunteer our services as trumpet players and buglers, can sign up our abilities to provide anyone who asks of us, a live performance of Taps at the funeral of a Veteran.

All you need to do is be able to play taps on a traditional Bugle, Trumpet, Flugelhorn, or a 1,2,or 3 valved bugle. There is no age requirement either.

Sign up is available on their website here and costs you nothing. So please, show your respect for our men and women in uniform and sign up.

Well wishes to the Colts D&BC

On Monday 12/10, Bianca Vocke and Erin Reichle members of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps out of Iowa were in a serious car accident. Sadly Bianca Vocke lost her life. Erin Reichle is recovering from her injuries.

My best wishes go out to both families and the friends in their extended Drum Corps family as they mourn the loss of their loved one.

The Colts have established a fund if you would like to contribute to the families. Go here for more information.
